INFORMATION
for parents

Let's go through what to expect when you visit our myopia clinic.
FEES

We believe all children should have equal access to expert assessment of their eyesight and myopia condition. This is why we provide a bulk billed initial consultation, with no out of pocket costs to you if you have a Medicare card. Without Medicare, the initial assessment fee is $80. If myopia treatment is needed, we will detail the costs and fees with you.
For Medicare card holders, your child's initial myopia assessment consultation is bulk billed.
HOW LONG DOES THE APPOINTMENT TAKE?

Your child's eye examination with us will be comprehensive. Please allow 45 minutes to 1 hour for this visit. Our optometrist will assess your child's eye focusing both far away and up-close, how their eyes work together as a team, check eye health, measure the length of the eyes, check the shape of the eye surface and take images of the retina. For some children, dilating eye drops may be needed; if this is the case we will inform you on the day.

We will spend time discussing our findings with you, giving you all the information you need. Our optometrist go through with you and your child an individualised myopia management plan, our recommendations, review schedule, and any treatments that may be required.
WHAT DO WE NEED TO BRING?

A referral is not required to visit our clinic. However if you have been referred by another practitioner, please bring your referral letter with you.

If your child wears glasses, please bring them along. To assist our optometrist to better understand your child's situation and to establish a clinical picture of their myopia progression, previous pairs of glasses or copies of their previous prescriptions would be helpful.
