ORTHO-K
角膜矯形鏡 | OK鏡

What is Ortho-K?

Ortho-K is short for orthokeratology. It is a form of vision correction with specially designed night-time contact lenses worn during sleep. A safe and non-surgical procedure that restores clear vision by gently reshaping the curvature of the eye surface. You can wake up to enjoy good vision without the need to wear glasses or daytime contact lenses.
Ortho-K are corneal reshaping lenses worn during sleep to correct and restore clear vision.
How does Ortho-K work?

With Ortho-K vision technology, fully customised contact lenses are made to fit the exact shape of your eyes. As you sleep, your eyelid and the lens place gentle pressure on your cornea, the clear front surface of your eye, molding its shape by a precise, pre-determined treatment amount calculated using sophisticated 3D modelling of your eye shape.

Our corneal topographer precisely measures 102,000 individual points on your cornea, as unique as your fingerprint, to assist us in designing Ortho-K lenses that are uniquely yours.
Our experienced Ortho K practitioner expertly designs your full customised Ortho K lenses to give you the best possible vision result.
You can think of an Ortho-K lens on the eye as a little like a retainer that aligns teeth. Hence Ortho-K is sometimes referred to as 'braces for the eyes'. The lenses are comfortable to wear and easy to use.

Ortho-K treatment is a completely reversible process. If the lenses are not worn for several days, the cornea of the eye gradually returns to its original, natural shape.
Ortho K treatment is a reversible process that changes the shape of the front surface of the eye as you sleep.
Who is Ortho-K treatment for?

Ortho-K vision correction is for anyone who wants to be glasses and contacts-free during the day. Simply put in your lenses each night before going to sleep and wake up with clear vision. It's amazing really.

Both adults and children can wear Ortho-K lenses, and the technology can treat most prescriptions — short-sightedness, long-sightedness and astigmatism.

For adults, it is a safe, reversible and cost-effective alternative to LASIK surgery. Many of our Ortho-K patients are adults who love the experience of not needing to wear glasses or daytime contacts. We can even correct 'presbyopia' — increasing difficulty with reading that occurs from age 40 — with custom Ortho-K designs to maximise the multifocal treatment effect.

For kids with myopia — short-sighted, blurry far-distance vision — Ortho-K treatment can also significantly slow down, and sometimes even halt, their eyes from further worsening that ordinary glasses and contact lenses cannot. Learn how Ortho-K reduces myopia progression here.
